Free Museum Admission for Military Families


Blue Star Museums, a free admission program, is providing free admission to military families all summer at more than 600 museums nationwide including world renowned art museums such as New York’s Museum of Modern Art and the Art Institute of Chicago. The program is available to active-duty military and their immediate family members, which includes active duty Reserve and active duty National Guard.

New Pablo Picasso Exhibit at Tate Liverpool


Picasso: Peace and Freedom is meant to challenge the widely held view of Pablo Picasso as creative genius, playboy and compulsive extrovert. In fact, Picasso was often engaged with politics and the Peace Movement.

New Picasso Exhibit at Museo Picasso Malaga

While Picasso is best known for his images of women, musicians and war, another subject is seen over and over again throughout Picasso’s career – horses. In fact, the very first painting by Pablo Picasso that was ever conserved was painted in Malaga when he was just eight years old, and there is a horse in it.

A new exhibit at the Museo Picasso Málaga explores this subject for which the artist was passionate. Picasso. Horses is currently on view through September 5, 2010.

Park West Gallery recently launched its artist testimonial series which can be viewed on the Park West Gallery Art Blog and the Park West Gallery YouTube Channel as well as on other Park West online properties.

Park West Gallery Summer Sale Going on Now!

With graduation and wedding season in full swing and Father’s Day right around the corner, the Park West Gallery Summer Collection was put together with the discriminating gift-giver in mind. The collection is currently featured online and boasts an array of fine artwork, high-end designer jewelry, Japanese woodcuts and animation art, all of which are being offered at exciting sale prices now through August 15th.

More than 300 artworks from some of the world’s greatest artists are featured in the Summer Collection including old and modern masters Picasso, Miro, Rembrandt and Salvador Dali as well as contemporary artists Dominic Pangborn, Yaacov Agam, Alfred Gockel, Csaba Markus, and Peter Max.

Fine jewelry from high-end designers such as Erte, Aussie O, Roberto Coin, and Yvel is also featured. While the collection is diverse, all of the jewelry has certain qualities in common such as superb craftsmanship, timeless characteristics and unique design.

The Japanese Woodcuts in the Park West Gallery Summer Collection were created in the 1800s and early 1900s and provide a glimpse into the rich history of Japan. Limited edition cels, lithographs, hand drawings, and production cels make up this special offering.

Charity Auction called by Cruise Art Auctioneer


The Art Auctioneers running the Park West Galleries onboard cruise ships around the world make it a point to give back whenever an opportunity presents itself. One such opportunity was the charity auction at the First Christian Church of Wilton Manors.

Art Auctioneer Lane Conner jumped at the chance to call the auction, which raised nearly $13,000 during the day long event on April 24. The funds raised will benefit Hope Women’s Shelter in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and Wycliffe Bible Translators as well as a prison ministry and orphans in Romania.

Park West Featured in TV Program Discover the D

Park West Gallery was recently featured in Discover the D, a Detroit Public Television series hosted by Veronica Vance. The segment provides footage of the tour Park West Gallery Director Morris Shapiro gave Vance. The 23 exhibition spaces that make up the gallery are highlighted, and numerous works of art from a variety of artists are shown. Featured artists include local artists such as Marcus Glenn and Dominic Pangborn, iconic artists such as Peter Max, and Old Masters such as Rembrandt and Durer.

Wigs 4 Kids Receives a Dominic Pangborn Original


Wigs 4 Kids
Artist Dominic Pangborn recently donated a painting, Mother and Child, to the non-profit organization Wigs 4 Kids. The painting will hang in the new Wigs 4 Kids Wellness Center, which is scheduled to open June 5. The artwork was unveiled during a fundraiser for Wigs for Kids on April 30 at Art Van Furniture on 14 Mile Road in Warren. The event was celebrated by more than 400 guests and raised nearly $17,000 for the Wellness Center Capital Campaign launch. The funds raised on April 30, combined with the $300,000 in recent donations, bring the campaign to 25 percent of its goal of $1.25 million.

Park West Gallery Interviews Artist Noah

Contemporary artist Noah works out of Orange County, California, and has been on the radar of famous collectors ever since he set up his easel at local coffee shops to paint portraits of celebrities. Since then, he has created artwork for an impressive roster of clients including Universal Pictures, Alpine Electronics, Levi’s, and Lexus. Noah is also part of the Park West Gallery family of artists.

Park West Gallery Participates in DPTV Auction


DPTV
Park West Gallery donated several artworks from its collection to Detroit Public Television which were auctioned off during DPTV’s recent online auction.

The Park West artworks featured in the auction included: Peter Max’s God Bless America II, Emile Bellet’s Danielle’s Blues, and Slava Brodinsky’s Exploring Nature. The auction was powered by eBay Giving Works and ran from Thursday, April 22 though Tuesday, April 27.
